Kane County Kids THRIVE Outdoors - August 3-7, 2026

Hosted by Healthy Kane County Foundation and funded with support from a UCORE grant from Utah DNR and funds from Kane County, Kane County Kids THRIVE Outdoors is a program aiming to promote skills and behaviors that support positive physical and mental health through adventure, challenge, and learning while canyoneering in this beautiful region we call home. THRIVE Outdoors is your chance to spend a week outside, explore the mental/emotional aspects of challenge and mastery, and make new friends. You’ll gain confidence, learn teamwork and leadership skills, and take on new challenges under the guidance of expert instructors.

Kane County Kids THRIVE Outdoors uses outdoor activities to help young people build the following skills:

T - Teamwork: Participants learn how to collaborate with and support their peers to accomplish shared goals.

H - Health: Participants engage in outdoor activities that support their physical, mental, and social health and learn about the positive benefits of spending time outdoors.

R - Resilience: Participants face challenges within a framework provided by qualified adults that encourages safe exploration of physical and emotional discomfort (such as hot weather or feeling afraid during challenging activity) and receive supportive guidance to build resilience.

I - Integrity: Participants learn about and practice acting with integrity in relation to mentors, peers, and the landscape in which we’re recreating.

V - Voice: Participants are encouraged to build a strong voice that helps them communicate effectively with their peers.

E - Efficacy: Participants are guided through skill development that helps them build a sense of self-efficacy—not just that they know they have specific skills but that they know they are capable of learning new skills.
